Donations
Food and Clothing Donations
The center is always taking
food and clothing donations. Items of greatest need are men
and children’s clothing. Food that is of greatest need is
canned fruits and vegetables, chunky pop-top soups, and
cereal.
Household Items
We currently do not have
storage for other items other than food or clothing. We do
however know families that are in need of these items. If
you could contact us when other items arise we can let you
know if we have a family in need of them.
Operational Items Needed
Vehicles – We accept recent model cars to sell* as income for Rio Vista Center.
We do not have the resources to do major repairs or tow them to our site, so if they don’t work then we’ll likely decline the donation.
If the title is lost, please obtain a copy before donating the car.
We also need some new or gently used 15-passenger vans to replace our aging fleet –
just in case anyone would like to donate one or more!
*If we are reselling the vehicle there are new tax laws that impact the dollar amount you may claim as a donation --
please consult your tax advisor for more information.
Lawn Equipment – We have need for a new or used (good condition) mower, blower, etc.
Supplies/Equipment – We need just about anything you can think of for maintenance and cleaning of our buildings.
Shovels, drills, saws, ladders, crowbars, rakes (leaf and garden), hoes, caulk, paint brushes/rollers/ paint buckets/trays, other tools.
Brooms, mops, floor and window cleaner, clean rags (t-shirts work great) and sponges. Safety glasses, dust masks (new), trash/lawn/leaf bags (new!),
work gloves. Toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates, disposable cups, facial tissue, plastic utensils (all new, of course!)
We have a major need right now in the area of transportation. We need a reliable truck, preferably 3/4 ton to 1 ton,
which is able to tow our trailers for donation pickups. Our van has broken down numerous times over the past year and need a vehicle more suitable for towing.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for an end of the year tax deduction, and it will help us to better serve our community.
